Come see interdisciplinary senior capstone design teams, comprised of students from Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy, present their prototype devices that assist clients with disabilities. Projects include:
- Seating and Mobility Toolkit: allows for fast, easy and accurate measures of clients before ordering a specific wheelchair design.
- Mobile Arm Support: wheelchair attachment that allows clients with weak arm strength to obtain more arm mobility.
- Child Walker: improved child-walker design that takes into account function, back support, and aesthetics.
- Neck Support Devices: device used to replace therapy of neck injuries, thus allowing client to recover at home.
- Midline Gait Trainer: device to assist clients with training themselves to walk steadily and maintain correct foot movement.
- Kayak Handles: device to help clients move from wheelchair to sports equipment (kayak, hockey sled, etc.).
- Hip Motion Device: device that allows clients recovering from hip surgery or injury to conduct therapy at home.
- Off-Road Wheelchair: wheelchair attachment that allows clients to easily move through rough terrain.
- Photobook: visual device to help child patients better associate people and activities around the home.
- Sheet Music Aid: device to help visually-impaired musicians read sheet music or words for singing
Students, faculty, staff, community group partners, and the public are all welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
