On February 16th, Women in Engineering (WiE) hosted its 32nd annual Recognition Banquet to recognize undergraduate and graduate engineering students for excellence.  The banquet was held at the Ohio Union East Ballroom.

Several BME students received the Outstanding Academic Award in the amount of $250. This award was given to the following biomedical engineering students: Shelby Fullen, Meagan Ita, Shubhra Kochar, Mengyu Liu, Emily Moore, Brittany Shrefler, Emily Swingle, and Sravya Vajapeyajula. The Outstanding Academic Award is based on the students cumulative GPA.

Layne Connolly and Stephanie Telek received the Freshman Fund Award of $1000. All incoming freshman are considered for this award. The criteria for receiving this award is based on students high school and current GPA, high school activity and performance, as well as their academic potential and field. This award is funded through diversity funds.

Since 1980, the program has recognized female engineering students for excellence in academics and leadership through awards and scholarships presented at the annual WiE Recognition Banquet. WiE’s recognition banquet features an inspirational keynote speaker and is attended by corporate and academic partners as well as WiE undergraduate and graduate students. This year's keynote speaker was Kimberly "Kim" Stevenson, VP and Chief Information Officer of Intel Corporation.
