Douglas Kniss, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, was among 93 other new AIMBE Fellows inducted in the 2012 class of the College of Fellows. A formal induction was held during AIMBE's 21st Annual Event at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. on February 20th, 2012.

AIMBE was founded in 1991. Its current vision is to provide leadership and advocacy in medical and biological engineering for the benefit of society. AIMBE is a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., representing 50,000 individuals and the top 2% of medical and biological engineers. In addition, AIMBE represents academic institutions, private industry, and professional engineering societies.

Professor Kniss was elected as a AIMBE Fellow for his research in placental and stem cell biology, and continuing educational and advocacy outreach to legislatures on stem cell techniques. He joins several other faculty members in our department who have been awarded this distinctive honor by their peers. Rich Hart, chair of BME; Cynthia Roberts, professor; Alan Litsky, professor and Andreas Von Recum, former BME chair and faculty emeritus.

Congratulations Professor Kniss!
