Drs. Jessica Winter and Stephen Lee 2012 Inventor of the Year Semi-Finalists

Jessica Winter, Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and  Stephen Lee, Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, were both selected as semi-finalists for the 2012 Innovator of the Year Award through the TechColumbus Innovation Awards.  The TechColumbus Innovation Awards celebrate and honor individuals, teams and companies that push forward in the Central Ohio Region's technology and innovation community.  13 categories showcase the dramatic impact of the awardee's contributions in Central Ohio and beyond.  The Inventor of the Year Award is given to an inventor who, by a single invention or multiple innovations, has created the greatest impact on technology through his, her or their innovation(s).  Some key criteria in order to receive the award include: (1) a technical innovation that is groundbreaking, ahead of its time, and/or superior to current marker alternatives and (2) measurable impact of the invention in terms such as enabling a new market, significantly expanding an existing market, future market potential, revenue growth, cost reduction, or process improvement.  The winners will be announced on February 7, 2013 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center - Battelle Grand Hall.
