Aaron Short Wins 3rd Place in the Hayes Graduate Research Forum

Posted:

The 27th Annual Edward F. Hayes Research Forum was held March 1, 2013 at the Ohio Union.  The Hayes Research Forum, co-sponsored by CGS, The Graduate School, and the Office of Research, is held annually to showcase the excellent research being conducted by graduate students across Ohio State's full array of graduate programs.

BME 2nd year graduate student Aaron Short placed 3rd in the Engineering, Math, & Physical Sciences Posters category for his presentation titled "Hydrogel-Aligned Electrospun Fiber Composite Constructs for Examining Tumor Cell Migration".  Aaron received his BS in Biology from the University of Findaly in 2007.  Aaron's graduate research focuses on the involvement of mechanics in cell migration and creating a more physiological relevent assay.  The use of electrospun fibers can mimic topographical and mechanical properties of white matter tracks; by suspending these fibers in hydrogels he hopes to create a more realistic migration assay.  Aaron is advised by Dr. Jessica Winter, Associate Professor, Biomedical and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

Congratulations Aaron!
