Effective November 1, 2013, Daniel Kramer will assume the role of associate vice president in the Office of Research and director of Ohio State’s Industry Liaison Office.

In his new role, Dan will work closely with Office of Research leaders and college deans to expand existing partnerships and create new industry-university collaborations that will build on the university’s core capabilities in learning, discovery, innovation, and services. In addition, he will lead the ILO’s holistic approach to industrial partnering and relationship management, fulfilling mutual industry and university needs through combinations of student engagement and research. In partnership with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Dan will guide the development of new sponsored research agreements.

Dan graduated from the BME Masters program in 1982 and completed the PhD program in 1989. Before joining Ohio State in 2010, Dan spent more than 20 years at Battelle serving as director of the Program Management Office in the Medical Device Solutions (MDS) Group, director of project management strategy and policy development for the Health and Life Sciences Global Business, and as a senior project manager in the MDS Group. His Battelle experience in project and operations management, innovation and intellectual property stewardship, and business and alliance development provide him with an excellent understanding of and appreciation for the business/technology needs of today’s leading-edge, market-focused companies.
