BME Pelotonia Fellows Speak at Symposium

Posted:

The Pelotonia Fellowship Program provides funding to exceptional students who are the next generation of cancer researchers and scientists at The Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. An integral part of this fellowship is the ability to collaborate with others about ideas and recent developments in their own cancer research. This yearly Pelotonia Fellowship Symposium helps bring awardees, their mentors, and world class scientists together to discuss relevant research. This year’s Symposium took place on Wednesday, September 11th, in the Biomedical Research Tower.

Three BME students were honored to be chosen as speakers for this year’s event:

1.  Kinshuk Mitra-Undergraduate Fellow

“Towards a More Perfect Separation: Leveraging Microfluidics for Marker Capture and Characterization”

Mentors: Michael Tweedle, PhD, and Ronald Xu, PhD

2.  Ryan Reye -Undergraduate Fellow

“ miR-23a: A Key Metabolic Regulator in Hepatocellular Carcinoma”

Mentor: Sam Jacob, PhD

3.  Rachel Zielinski-Graduate Fellow

“Targeting Cellular Biomechanics to Modulate Cancer Cell Motility and Tumor Morphogenesis”

Mentor: Samir Ghadiali, PhD

Congratulations to all three students for the incredible honor!
