Dr. Kniss and Dr. Ghadiali published for breast cancer research

Reseach conducted by Dr. Douglas Kniss, professor of obstetrics and gynecology, and Dr. Samir Ghadiali, associate professor of biomedical engineering, revealed new information about reducing the spread of cancer cells within breast cancer patients. Kniss, Ghadiali, and their team discovered that decreased levels of myoferlin, a protein within a specific gene, could help lessen the spread of infected cells. Reduced spreading of cancer cells means that the tumors that do develop are smaller, and more easily removed.

The article was recently published in the science journal PLOS ONE, as well as on Ohio State's website for research news. Kniss and his team have also received recognition by ScienceDaily.com and CellBank Australia, a non-for-profit facility that controls cell lines.
