2016 6th Annual BME Capstone Demo Day Awards
On April 28th, The Department of Biomedical Engineering held its 6th Annual Capstone Demo Demo Day, where 20 teams shared their final projects to the class, faculty, mentors and guests. In recognition for their hard work throughout the year, the following awards were given to the following student teams:
Excellence in Project Awardees
Team Eye Inflation Chamber: Designed a holding chamber for ex vivo experiments, so that biomechanical data can be collected in two positions on the eye without changing the setup.
Team Endonasal Surgery: Designed a heart pump device, with controllable pump rate and pressure, to help surgeons performed simulated endonasal surgery.
Team Kayak Paddle: Designed an assistive device that holds a paddle for a user with assymetric strength, by transferring force from the strong to weaker side of the paddle stroke.
Honorable Mention Awards:
Team Adjustable, Lightweight Wheelchair: Designed a highly adjustable wheelchair with built-in quantitative measures to help a therapist quickly and accurately size a wheelchair for an individual.
Team Helicopter Isolette: Designed a lifting device to help nurses load and remove a 300lb infant isolette from the back of a helicopter.
Team Drug Dispersal Device: Designed an automatic medicine dispensing device that includes time controls, biometrics and a robust design to promote user compliance.
