Mark Calhoun receives Pelotonia Fellowship

Posted:

Mark Calhoun, a BME PhD student, was recently awarded a Pelotonia Fellowship.  The Pelotonia Fellowship Program provides two-year research fellowships for the best and brightest OSU graduate students who want to help cure cancer.  Mark currently works under Jessica Winter, Professor of BME, and Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, for his research.

Calhoun is one of five engineering students who earned the Pelotonia Fellowship for 2015-16. The program enables promising scholars to focus on research and trains them to become independent cancer researchers. Cahoun hopes his research could one day translate into new treatments for patients with glioblastoma, the most lethal form of brain cancer.

Pelotonia is a grassroots bike tour that raises money for innovative and life saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. The competitive fellowship sponsored by Pelotonia is a cancer research program developed to train the most promising cancer scientists at The Ohio State University. This fellowship program funds training for undergraduate, graduate, and medical students and postdoctoral fellows at Ohio State.
