Molly Baumann, first year BME graduate student, recently presented her undergraduate thesis research at the 10th Annual World Biomaterials Congress (WBC2016), held May 17-22, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  Her research, entitled "Screw Pull Out under Cyclic Fatigue Loading in Synthetic and Cadaveric Bone" was completed in the Orthopaedic BioMaterials Laboratory at The Ohio State University, under the supervision of Dr. Alan S. Litsky, associate professor of Orthopaedics and Biomedical Engineering.  This year’s WBC2016 was record-breaking with over 1,200 oral presentations, 2,400 poster presentations and 3,500 abstracts submitted by over 60 countries, and outstanding sponsor support in every sponsorship category, WBC2016 makes history by being the largest World Biomaterials Congress to-date.

Earlier results of Baumann’s work was also presented in poster format at the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) meeting in Orlando, Florida. The 2016 ORS Annual Meeting was held March 5-8, 2016 and attracted over 3,000 attendees with an interest in orthopaedic research including clinicians, surgeons, residents, veterinarians, basic scientists, and engineers.  Over 2,200 investigators presented scientific abstracts that showcased the most innovative and cutting-edge research in the field.
