Mark Calhoun receives Board of Trustees Student Recognition Award

Posted:

BME Ph.D. student Mark Calhoun recently received The Ohio State University’s Board of Trustees Student Recognition Award on behalf of the College of Engineering. The prestigious award recognizes students with outstanding academic and service achievements. Mark is the first student from the Ohio State Department of Biomedical Engineering to be presented with the award.

Mark currently works under Jessica Winter, Professor of BME, and Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, for his research. This recent Board of Trustees meeting focused on bike tour Pelotonia, so it was the perfect time to honor Mark and his commitment to cancer research and involvement with Pelotonia. Pelotonia is a grassroots bike tour that raises money for innovative and life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.  Mark is one of five engineering students who was recently awarded the Pelotonia Fellowship, which provides two-year research fellowships for the best and brightest OSU graduate students who want to help cure cancer.

Congratulations, Mark!
