Eight Biomedical Engineering students participate in the International Summer Design Experience which takes place in Nanjing, China. This course led by Dr. Mark Ruegsegger, Director of Undergraduate education (BME), allows the students to gain a global engineering perspective and an appreciation of multi-disciplinary and multi-national design teams.

During the course of this trip, the BME students will visit local hospitals, the Philips Healthcare manufacturing facility and the University of Science and Technology China (USTC). They are accompanied by students from Nanjing University and USTC. The two student groups form a team that will engage in four experiment and design projects in the medical area.

The BME students also engage in cultural trips on the weekends to expose them to China’s intricate culture.  One of those trips was to the Nanjing University library, one of the largest libraries in China.

Congratulations to the students selected for this program.
