Dasi Receives $228K Grant from National Institutes of Health
Dr. Lakshmi Prasad Dasi, Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), was awarded a grant for over $228,000 for two years from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The grant started December 5, 2017 and ends November 30, 2019. Dr. Dasi’s proposal, titled “Superomniphobic Flow Controlled Prosthetic Heart Valve,” deals with development of next generation mechanical heart valves that will repel blood while controlling turbulence in order to eliminate the need for life long blood thinners that are currently required for patients receiving mechanical heart valves. Dr. Dasi has also proposed a subcontract to work on his proposal with Colorado State University.
Congratulations and good luck to Dr. Dasi!
