Skidmore is awarded inaugural Postdoctoral Engagement Award

Jeffrey Skidmore, postdoctoral researcher, Biomedical Engineering (BME), is the inaugural recipient of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) Postdoc Engagement Award.  The award is awarded to postdocs who work on professional development as well as their research. Going forward, the award will be given out every semester. Skidmore conducts his research in the lab of Professor Mingjun Zhang, BME.

 

Skidmore received his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from

Brigham Young University in April 2013. He then went on to complete his PhD in mechanical engineering at Arizona State University in May of 2017. He then came to Ohio State to work on his research.

 

Skidmore wants to become a professor at a research university, where he can focus on his main passions of research, teaching, and mentoring students. He has been conducting research as well as seeking out and engaging in several opportunities to further his professional career in preparation for a faculty position. He attends workshops concerning group management, enhancing research impact, establishing industry collaborations, and many other different events that will impact his professional life. In attending and participating in all of these different professional development workshops, Skidmore believes he has gained more skills and knowledge that will help him succeed in academia.
