Welcome New Faculty!
Please join us in welcoming our newest faculty member Natalia Higuita-Castro to the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Ohio State!
Assistant Professor, Natalia Higuita-Castro, Ph.D., has ample experience on the fields of Biomedical Micro/Nano Technology, Cellular/Tissue Engineering, Development of organ-on-a-chip platforms, and Novel nano-carriers for therapeutic applications.
Dr. Higuita-Castro obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at Ohio State University and during her postdoctoral training she worked in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh - School of Medicine, and the Department of Surgery and the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. Dr. Higuita-Castro is a former HHMI Med into Grad scholar, and an American Heart Association (AHA) and NIH T32 fellow.
Her research focuses on the development of novel nanocarriers for gene/oligo delivery, with special emphasis on lung inflammation and brain injury applications; as well as the use of micro/nano fabrication techniques to develop Organ-on-a-Chip disease models.
