Duran Yetkinler (BME '94), an alumni of the Ohio State BME PhD program currently has more than 25 years of industrial experience in medical device development is currently co-founder and CEO of 3D Biomaterials LLC, and Pacific Bioceramics, LLC. He serves as an external advisory council member for the Ohio State University Biomedical Engineering Program. He describes his experience on the external advisory council as a unique experience during a dynamic time in which he was able to see the program become one of the most solid and desired departments in overall rankings of Biomedical Engineering Departments across the country. Yetkinler attended the Ohio State BME PhD program when it was a small program. He says, “everybody was out to find their passion in life regarding what they wanted to do in life as their career. Every student had a unique background and story about themselves. Even though everybody's curriculum was quite different, we kept tight friendships as a department, and even outside the school.” Duran says that his education at Ohio State has led him to feeling confident in every subject matter throughout his career.
