Roberts receives 2020 Distinguished Scholar Award

Posted:

Congratulations to Cynthia Roberts, professor, departments of Ophthalmology and Biomedical Engineering (BME), for being awarded the 2020 Distinguished Scholar Award.

The Distinguished Scholar Award is one of the universities highest honors and is awarded to only 6 professors at Ohio State each year. The award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate scholarly activity, research, or other creative works representing exceptional achievements in the fields. Cynthia is the epitome of a translational Biomedical Engineer where her basic science contributions/knowledge generation has transformed clinical practice. Her impact on the field of Ophthalmology is simply exceptional and she has also been an outstanding mentor to many scientists and clinicians.

This award is traditionally presented to the awardee by surprise where Ohio State leaders interrupt either a class, lab, or meeting in order to announce the faculty member has received this prestigious university award. Due to the current environment, the award was announced to Roberts on April 23, during a weekly standing Ophthalmology Grand Rounds meeting held via ZOOM.
