BME Students win at the 42nd Annual Ophthalmology Research Symposium

Congratulations to Megan Allyn and Annie Ryan for winning in the Graduate Students category at the 42nd Annual Ophthalmology Research Symposium. The Symposium, sponsored by The Ohio State University Havener Eye Institute, was held June 17, 2022.

Megan Allyn, a CBE doctoral student under Dr. Katelyn Swindle-Reilly, won first place at the competition for her research titled “Sustained Release of Heme-Albumin as Novel Therapeutic Approach for Age-Related Macular Degeneration.”

Annie Ryan, BME doctoral student under Dr. Matthew Reilly, placed second for her research titled "Diagnostic Electrophysiology in a Small Animal Model of Traumatic Optic Neuropathy (TON)."

The Havener Eye Institute's 42nd Annual Ophthalmology Research Symposium presented a total of five awards. Three awards went to ophthalmology residents at the Havener Eye Institute, and two awards were given to graduate students whose research focus is ophthalmology.
