Dr. Hund appointed director of the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute (DHLRI)

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas Hund, PhD, as director for the Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute (DHLRI), pending board approval. Dr. Hund is the William D. and Jacquelyn L. Wells Chair at DHLRI and a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine (in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine). He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the College of Engineering, and most recently served as interim director at DHLRI.

Dr. Hund has expertise in heart failure and arrhythmia with techniques ranging from mathematical modeling and computational biology, molecular and cell biology, imaging, and animal physiology. In addition to his research achievements, Dr. Hund has been recognized for his dedication to promoting undergraduate and graduate education in medicine and biomedical engineering through curriculum development, didactic teaching and mentoring. He is a fierce advocate for interdisciplinary research at Ohio State, and has more than 100 publications in leading journals. He serves on multiple national editorial boards, holds several NIH awards and has served on national review panels.
 
Before joining Ohio State in July 2011, Dr. Hund was an assistant professor of Internal Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa. He earned his MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
