Soltisz, Andrew

Biography

My name is Andrew Soltisz and I am a PhD student in the department of Biomedical Engineering at The Ohio State University. Under the advisement of Dr. Rengesayee Veeraraghavan, I research image processing and analysis tools to quantify structural characteristics of cardiac derived tissues and cells with the goal of investigating mechanisms of heart failure and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathies. Outside of the lab I enjoy homebrewing, rock climbing, and exploring the world's national parks and forests through hiking and backpacking.

Expertise

I eat, breath, and sleep Matlab. Additionally, I have notable experience with image processing and analysis, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy, computational modeling of cardiac electrophysiology, and teaching through mentorship of 6 undergraduate and 2 high school research assistants, as well as assisting teaching of BME2700 - Numerical Simulations in BME.
