Welcoming New Faculty

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is rapidly growing and now has 28 departmental faculty members. BME has recently welcomed three new faculty members: Dr. Daniel Gallego-PerezDr. Matthew Reilly, and Dr. Katelyn Swindle-Reilly. These new faculty will be major assets to our department and help enhance our strategic plan for growth.

At the end of 2015, the Department welcomed Dr. Daniel Gallego-Perez as an assistant professor. Since joining the department, a major area of research in Dr. Gallego-Perez's lab is nanotechnology-enabled non-viral cell and tissue reprogramming for applications in regenerative and restorative medicine. Additionally, his lab has been working on the development of lab-on-a-chip platforms for single cell analysis in cancer research. Click here to learn about Dr. Gallego-Perez with in-depth information about his education and research.

Dr. Matthew Reilly joined the department in January 2016 as a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Professor Reilly brings a broad range of engineering expertise, including biomechanics, biotransport, and cell/tissue engineering, to address important clinical issues in opthamology and we look forward to his contribution to this important area of research at Ohio State. Click here to learn more about Dr. Matthew Reilly.

Dr. Katelyn-Swindle Reilly joined the department in February 2016 as a visiting assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering  and will be appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor in Biomedical Engineering and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering on September 1st, 2016. Swindle-Reilly’s research interests in biomaterials and biomedical product design are an excellent fit with Ohio State’s expertise in tissue engineering and regeneration medicine. In particular, Prof. Swindle-Reilly brings a broad range of engineering expertise that will be used to address important clinical issues in wound healing and ophthalmology. Click here to learn more about Dr. Swindle-Reilly and her expertise.
