Hart receives the BMES Distinguished Service Award

Richard T. Hart. PhD, Edgar C. Hendrickson Designated Professor and Department Chair, BME, was recently recognized for his outstanding service and commitment to the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) at the annual 2017 BMES Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. The BMES Distinguished Service Award acknowledges his service, contributions and leadership of the society that includes the following:

  • Board member, 2006-09
  • Executive Committee and Board member as Secretary, 2009-12
  • Executive Committee and Board member as:

            President-elect: 2013 

            President: 2014-16

            Past President: 2017

The BMES Annual Meeting is the premiere conference for education and research in the field.

BMES is the largest professional society for Biomedical Engineering, with well over 8,000 members. This year’s meeting attracted a record number of over 4,200 attendees. Not only was it the highest numbers of attends but also the highest number of abstracts, oral and poster presentations, largest number of exhibitors and sponsors. The Society will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2018, culminating with multiple activities and celebrations at the 2018 Annual Meeting in Atlanta. The 2018 meeting is already predicting to break all the records set this year. If you plan on attending the 2018 meeting, please stop by the Ohio State exhibit booth and attend the Ohio State Reception in conjunction with the 2018 BMES Meeting.
